On vacation. 

I love eating in Singapore. I have never met a nation of people so passionate about keeping food traditions alive while actively exploring new creative avenues. Here are a few examples:

Fried Hokkien Mee from East Coast Road. THE hawker dish I crave most. 

1A curry puff, a favorite. 

Fine dining at Shishen Hanten @Mandarin Orchard Hotel. This is lightly fried fish skin battered in salted egg yolk. 

Chawanmushi with a thick crab roe broth. 

I am super excited about some locally-inspired bakery nomnoms I bought today (think sugee cake with lychee-infused frosting), and will certainly try my hand at it when I get back! My quest tomorrow is to search for the acclaimed salted egg yolk croissants. And more quality durian, of course. 

P.S. Apologies for the terrible food porn. I am totally jet lagged with two jet lagged babies.
